Responsible Gaming

Before you place a bet, decide the most you are willing to lose today, and stop when it is gone. Everything else on this page builds on that one habit.

How do I keep gambling from costing more than I planned?

Set your amount before you start, while your judgement is not shaped by a recent win or loss. Once play begins, every result pulls you toward a different number, so a figure chosen in advance is the only one you can trust.

Treat that amount as already spent, the way you would think of a cinema ticket. If you expect it back, every loss feels like a debt to recover. If you have written it off, a loss is simply the end of the evening.

Never chase a loss. Raising stakes to win back what is gone usually means betting more, faster, and with less thought. Each new bet carries the same odds as the last, so chasing does not improve your chances. It only makes the hole deeper.

Keep gambling out of borrowed money. Credit, loans or money set aside for bills turn entertainment into an obligation that outlasts the session, and the pressure to repay feeds the urge to chase.

Take breaks. Stepping away, even briefly, interrupts the rhythm of continuous play and gives you a moment to check whether you are still within your amount and still enjoying yourself.

Gambling on this site's subject matter is for adults only. The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this site, including on the front page.

Who can I turn to if it stops being fun?

Involve someone else early. Telling a friend, a family member or an independent organisation while things still feel manageable is easier than waiting until money or relationships are under strain, and another person often notices patterns you cannot see from inside them.

Every page of this site, this one included, carries links to six independent gambling-help organisations:

  • BeGambleAware
  • Gamble Aware
  • Gambling Therapy
  • G GamCare Gambling Support: Starts Here
  • GAM STOP
  • NCPG

These are the only non-commercial outbound links on the whole site. Unlike the operator links, they carry no sponsored marking, are set to nofollow, and open in a separate tab on each organisation's own website. This site receives nothing when you follow them.

What can this site not do for someone who wants to stop?

Controls such as deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods or self-exclusion belong to an operator account. If you want any of them, you arrange it inside your own account at the destination where you gamble. This site has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch such a control on, check it or enforce it.

Nobody's age is verified on this site, and no gambling takes place here. Any check of that kind happens at the destination you visit.

No advertising or behavioural profiling network is present in these pages, so nothing you see here is targeted at you because of how you have behaved. That also means this site cannot spot risky play or step in on your behalf. If you are worried about your gambling, the organisations listed above, and the people around you, are the places to start.
